The web is slow — we all know it. Tools like Electron,
or even its faster successor Tauri, feel like putting a
bandage on a sword wound. There are native UI
alternatives like ImGUI, Qt, and the new GPUI from Zed,
but each comes with trade-offs in real-world use. I set
out to create a UI library in C++ that stays close to
JavaScript's API, embraces CSS for styling, and
outperforms all current options. And yes of course I
will consider open sourcing this.
I collaborated as part of a two-person team to develop
this app, featuring a frontend built with Swift and
AppKit, and a backend powered by C# and ASP.NET.
